Notary Seal Requirements: Maine
The State of Maine does not require the use of a notary stamp or embossing seal. Using an embossing or ink seal does not eliminate the other requirements for a proper notarization required by Maine law.
If a stamp or seal is used, it must contain the notary public's name as it appears on the "Certificate of Office", the words "Notary Public" and either "Maine" or "ME" or the Great Seal of the State of Maine. The Secretary of State for Maine recommends the use of the words rather than the Great Seal.
